The first thing you need to do is contact me to see if I’m available. Most brides book at least 8-10 months in advance. The best thing is to enquire as soon as you have chosen your dress.
The next step is the trial run. This is where the fun starts, you need to allow at least 2 hours. Before you have the trial run, collect some pictures that show styles you do like and those you don’t. If you like the front of one style, but are not keen on the sides or back, don’t worry as most styles can be adapted to suit each person. I will also bring my portfolio of styles.
It is a good idea to have your tiara, veil or hair accessories with you at the trial run, but don’t panic if you don’t have them yet, I have a veil and tiara I can use to give an idea of what it will look like on the day.
When your hair is finished and you are happy with it, I will take photographs for reference.
We then need to discuss the bridesmaids (or others having their hair done). Sometimes it is not possible to get all the bridesmaids together before the wedding, so a photo of them with their hair as it is normally is all I really need.
If you wish the bridesmaids and /or mother of the bride to have a trial run at the same time as you, this will take longer than 2 hours. If they don’t want a trial, but would still like to see you have your hair styled, that’s not a problem, most brides like some moral support. One trial I went to recently, the four bridesmaids, mum, and mother-in-law-to-be were there just to watch! They also had wine, which made for a fun afternoon.
The next thing we do is talk about the timings. I will plan a timetable and if you are having a make-up artist, I can coordinate with them so the times do not overlap. I will send you this approx 3-4 weeks before the wedding so you can make copies for all those having their hair styled.
On the big day I will arrive at the agreed time, ready to help make your day wonderful. After I have styled the hair I usually stay to help bride and bridesmaids dress and help the dad with his button hole and cravat. I have even been known to tie balloons to the front garden fence!
That’s basically how it all works, so give me a call, I look forward to hearing from you.
